Two tribes compete against each other for reward and immunity. If they win reward, they get a luxury for their campsite, if they lose immunity they have to vote one of their tribemates out of the game. Eventually the tribes merge and the last person in the game is the sole Survivor. (Click on the images to see videos)
Survivor: Michigan (2007) was themed after the native Huron/Wyandots that used to live in the area. We had an Exile Island and immunity idols. This season had some excellent plotting and backstabbing. Players went to a remote location in a local park and split into two tribes. To simulate the effects of starvation, "food pellets" were hidden around the camps and teams had to bring a certain number to each task or start with a disadvantage. This also got them to spread out so secret conversations were easier.

Survivor: Vendetta (2015) saw Medici face off against Borgia and had no immunity idols - instead, each player had a Vendetta: A grudge against one other player on their tribe. If that person got voted off, the Vendetta acted as an immunity idol at the following tribal council. Players mixed poisons, memorized masquerade masks, and studied renaissance art to unlock locks.
